My friend started a Twitch channel, but wanted some pre-stream music for her viewers to listen to before she started. I decided to her help her out and I wrote this lofi track for her, inspired by her name, Galaxxsea.
This song was created for my 10th grade English class, and I produced it from start to finish. I played the instruments, did the vocals, and mixed the song, as well as creating the cover art.
This song was based off the novel "This Side of Home" by Renee Watson, which is a story about an African American girl growing up in a quickly gentrifying city. In this song, I not only created my own original lyrics, but referenced powerful quotes from the book.
Since I was little, I've been playing instruments because of my musical parents. I took piano lessons for many years, but began teaching myself after some time because it was more fun. Then, I learned string instruments, like acoustic/electric guitar and ukulele. From there, I've been practicing singing and participating in my school choir.
